Scope

This standard specifies the technical requirements, test methods, packaging, marking, storage and transportation of nitrous oxide, and gives safety warnings. This standard applies to nitrous oxide produced by the thermal decomposition process of ammonium nitrate, which is mainly used as refrigerant, combustion aid, preservative, anesthetic, pressure propellant, and also used in chemical industry, semiconductor manufacturing and atomic absorption spectroscopy and other fields. Molecular formula: N₂O. Relative molecular mass: 44.01288 (according to the international relative atomic mass in 2007).
