Scope: This standard provides guidelines for the collection of field work reliability data of electronic products, whereby sufficient and extensive data can be obtained to make detailed failure and failure rates for products working under various conditions (time, environment, storage, repair, etc.) analysis. It is important to point out that valuable reliability data is not only data on failures, but must also include data on successes (non-failures). In other words, this standard is not limited to guidelines for failure reporting. This standard considers the collection of data on both availability and maintainability. In all cases, it is important in data collection to distinguish failed products from incorrectly replaced products. This standard is completely equivalent to the international standard IEC362 "Guidelines for the collection of data on the reliability, effectiveness and maintainability of electronic products in the field".
