JIS A 1968:2005 Indoor air -- Sampling and analysis of volatile organic compounds by solvent desorption/capillary gas chromatography -- Pumped sampling
This standard provides general guidance for pump sampling and analysis of volatile organic compounds (VOCs) in air. Applies to indoor air. This standard applies to a wide range of VOCs including hydrocarbons, halogenated hydrocarbons, esters, glycol ethers, ketones and alcohols. For measuring these VOCs, we recommend using samplers with different application ranges. However, since only a portion of low-boiling compounds is captured by the adsorbent, only a qualitative evaluation is possible. Furthermore, although all semi-volatile compounds are adsorbed by the adsorbent, only a portion can be recovered. Coconut shell activated carbon is generally used as an adsorbent, but there are many other adsorbents (), and it is recommended to use adsorbents with different application ranges for VOC measurement. This standard is applicable to VOC measurements in the concentration range of individual organic compounds from 1 to 1 X 106 μg/m. The upper limit of the usable range is determined by the adsorption capacity of the sampler used and the linear range of the gas chromatography column and detector or the sample split ratio of the analytical equipment used. The lower limit of the usable range depends on the noise level of the detector and the Planck level due to interference from impurities from the analytical system, sampler, and extraction solvent. Although this standard assumes that testers prepare and produce samplers themselves, commercially available samplers may be used as long as their quality and performance have been confirmed. In addition, when using a commercially available sampler, it is necessary to refer to the provisions in Section 8. Sampling and Section 9.2 Extraction and Analysis and follow the instructions for the sampler used.
