Scope
This standard specifies the test methods for evaluating the compatibility of five standard elastomeric materials, which are the most typical sealing materials used in contact with engine oil, with engine oil. This standard provides formulations, mixing procedures and vulcanization procedures for five standard elastomeric materials: a) Nitrile-butadiene rubber-1 (NBR-1); b) Nitrile-butadiene rubber-2 (NBR-2); c) Fluorine rubber (FKM); d) Acrylic rubber (ACM); e) Silicone rubber (VMQ). This standard is applicable to evaluate the influence of generator oil on this elastomer by measuring the change of hardness, rate of change of tensile strength, rate of change of elongation at break, and volume change of the standard sample of standard elastomer before and after immersion under controlled conditions. .
