1.1 This Outline covers factory-built panel assemblies for use within or as part of the structure of buildings
for commercial, industrial and residential use. These assemblies incorporate pre-installed branch circuit
electrical power distribution systems which are usually concealed and may not be accessible for
inspection at the installation site. Some panels incorporate audio, lighting, ventilation fans and other
utilization equipment.
1.2 The panel systems are evaluated only for installation in ordinary locations in accordance with the
National Electrical Code, ANSI/NFPA 70. Special Occupancies as specified in ANSI/NFPA 70 are not
addressed by these requirements.
1.3 Composite panel assemblies covered by this outline are intended to be installed in accordance with
the National Electrical Code, ANSI/NFPA 70, where the acceptability of the field assembled panel system
is determined by the Authority Having Jurisdiction.
1.4 The surface flammability or fire resistance of the panel or panel system is not covered by this outline
except as related to the individual requirements of the electrical components used within the system.
