- This standard specifies the is lation requirements that must be met for instrumentation and control (I&C) systems and their cables that are important to the safety of nuclear power plants. This standard applies to I&C systems important to safety in nuclear power plants and their cables, and also applies to temporary equipment that is part of I&C systems important to safety (for example, auxiliary equipment for commis ioning and testing). This standard is applicable to safety-important I&C systems of newly built nuclear power plants and the upgrade or transformation of safety-important I&C systems of exis ing nuclear power plants. For exis ing nuclear power plants, the requirements of this standard are partially applicable and the applicable requirements should be determined at the beginning of the project.
