- This standard specifies the main variables that affect the rate of arc burn loss of electrical contact materials and serves as a guide for developing more detailed arc burn loss test requirements. This standard does not address all safety aspects relevant to its use. Before using this standard, it is the user's responsibility to develop appropriate safety and health operating procedures and determine the applicability of the limit values. The arc burn test will produce vapors from some materials. Before using this standard, users should familiarize themselves with all hazards, including those mentioned in the Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS) for the test material.
