This standard specifies the reagents, instruments, measurement and calculation methods for testing the polar constant of chemical reagents gas chromatography stationary solutions. It is based on five standard groups of benzene, n-butanol, pentanone-[2], 1-nitropropane and pyridine. The difference in retention index between the tested stationary solution and the squalane fixative is used as a measure to evaluate the relative polarity of the stationary solution. This standard is applicable to the test of relative polarity constants of stationary products using 102 white carrier as a carrier and with an upper temperature limit equal to or higher than 120°C.
