Scope

This standard applies to reciprocating piston internal combustion engines with power below 1000 horsepower. This standard specifies the method for measuring the cleanliness of internal combustion engine parts, assemblies and complete machines. During the determination, the qualified products should be selected after inspection. When measuring the cleanliness of parts and assemblies, OEMs should take samples from the assembly line.
