Scope

For the purpose of this guideline, elevators are vertical conveyors of various designs for transportting bulk materials between different levels. This VDI guideline aims to take into account both the manufacturer's and the user's tasks. Precautions against fires and explosions shall be considered in the early design stage of an installation.
