This Guideline informs planners, manufacturers and operators of technical installations about ventilation methods used to reduce exposure to air pollutants at the workplace. By reference to detailed examples, it provides general notes and suggestions for effective and at the same time economical solutions. Furthermore, the guideline contains clear specifications regarding outdoor-air volumes required in accordance with the state of the art to provide a sufficient quantity of healthy breathing air at the workplace. In doing so, it also allows a clear definition of the scope in relation to the energy saving ordinance. The recommended methods can be implemented both for irritating substances and for those hazardous to health. This includes all gases, vapours, mist, smoke and dust released during a production process.
