Scope: This standard specifies the acoustic emission detection method for small components (or specific areas of large components). Since the acoustic emission signal has a low attenuation in the entire detection area, this method excludes the correction of signal attenuation based on distance. 2 This standard can be applied to material feature detection, production process quality control, product acceptance inspection, safety assessment of local concern areas of large components and inspection during maintenance. Through acoustic emission testing, it is possible to analyze the situation of small components under load or internal damage, and to evaluate the acoustic emission activity related to the load of small components. 3 This standard does not fully list all the safety requirements for testing. Users who use this standard are obliged to establish appropriate safety and health guidelines before testing.
