- This standard specifies terms and definitions related to geodetic instruments such as range finders, levels, theodolites, and components used in military topographic surveys, geological surveys, plane surveys, and engineering surveys. Terms related to photogrammetry, astronomy, hydrographic surveying and industrial surveying are excluded. This standard does not apply to parts that are not related to the function of the instrument. The terms are listed in alphabetical order.
