This SAE Recommended Practice establishes the procedure for determining if pleasure motorboats have effective exhaust muffling means when operating in the stationary mode. It is intended as a guide toward standard practice and is subject to change to keep pace with experience and technical advances. This document specifies guidelines for stationary sound level measurements for boats with above-water exhaust systems.
