Scope
This part (Functional Protocol Set, FP) defines the use of permanent analog or digital circuit access Packet Switched Data Network (PSDN) end system (reference end system) and another end system can use permanent or switched access (compatible Terms of OSI Connection Mode Transport Service between End Systems). They may be connected together directly through the same PSDN or indirectly through OSI connection mode network services. This set of functional protocols also defines the terms for OSI connection mode network services between a reference end system and a compatible end system using an X.25 subnet to connect to the PSDN. This set of functional protocols applies to environments supporting OSI network services. Four groups of optional functions for transmission protocol types are defined in the ISO classification; TB group: contains transmission protocol types 0, 2 and 4; TC group: contains transmission protocol types 0 and 2; TD group: contains transmission protocol type 0; TE group: contains transmission protocol type 2. Implementation of a TD group (type 0 only) requires that the end system not perform any complex type (type 2, 3 or 4) operations of the transport protocol procedure. Such end systems only interwork with end systems that also implement Type 0 transport protocol procedures. Implementation of other groups (TB, TC or TE groups) in an end system allows it to interwork with any ISO 8073 compliant end system. This functional protocol set recommends the implementation of types 0, 2 and 4 in end systems. End systems in the ISO classification can access the PSDN in a permanent manner with reference to profiles TB1111 (analog access) or TB1121 (digital access). The format of this part conforms to the one in ISO/IEC ISP. These ISPs are defined in various ways. For example: When defining the protocol profiles TB1111 and TB1121, this part refers to three different ISO/IEC ISPs in Chapter 2. This section shall be used in accordance with ISO/IEC ISP 10609-1, ISO/IEC ISP 10609-5 and ISO/IEC ISP 10609-9. This part defines some supplementary provisions to ISP 10609. These supplementary provisions are mainly related to priority management and transport type negotiation
