This standard specifies methods for determining the ability of turbine oils to inhibit oxidative and corrosive degradation and their tendency to corrode various metals. Petroleum-based and synthetic lubricants such as hydraulic oil can adopt this standard as needed, and can choose to use humid air or dry air, with or without metal sheets and other test conditions for evaluation. This standard allows the test conditions to be changed, and the test conditions can be set according to the specifications of the oil. If test conditions different from this standard are used, such as: test temperature, test time, air flow, temperature, sampling frequency, test volume and metal pieces, etc., they should be noted in the report. This standard uses International System of Units [SI] units. This standard covers certain hazardous materials, operations and equipment, but is not intended to make recommendations on all safety is ues related thereto. Therefore, users should establis appropriate safety and protective measures and determine the applicability of relevant regulatory limitations before using this standard.
