- Scope
- This standard specifies the general principles and detailed requirements for designing and compiling various instructions. Instructions are available for all types of products—from a simple can of paint to complex, large industrial kits. This standard applies to the following persons: - product manufacturers, professional authors, professional illustrators, software designers, translators or other personnel engaged in the conception and drafting of instructions; - product manufacturers who install and/or use products designated representative. Specifications are also useful when negotiating contracts between product suppliers and users. This standard does not specify a fixed number of documents that should be supplied with the product. It is obviously impossible to make such a provision, since this standard shall be valid for all types of products, and the number of documents depends largely on the complexity of the product. Therefore, this standard lists a wide variety of specifications that may be considered. This standard is intended to standardize how such instructions should be prepared.
