Scope
1.1 This part of YY 0801 applies to: a) terminals intended to be used in medical gas piping systems complying with ISO 7396-1 and used for the following medical gases: 1) oxygen; 2) nitrous oxide; 3) medical air; 4) Carbon dioxide; 5) Oxygen/nitrous oxide mixed gas [50%/50% (volume ratio)]. b) Terminals intended for use in medical gas piping systems in accordance with ISO 7396-1 and used for the following gases and uses: 1) oxygen-enriched air; 2) air for driving surgical instruments; 3) nitrogen for driving surgical instruments ;4) Vacuum. Note 1: Air used to drive surgical instruments may have different names or symbols, such as instrument air, surgical air, air driven, air-700 and air-800. Note 2: The requirements of this section can be used as guidance for other gas terminals. For general use, these other gases will be considered to be included in this standard. This section pays particular attention to ensuring gas-specific terminal components to prevent interchangeability of these components between different gases and between uses. 1.2 This section specifies the requirements for terminals used to supply and handle nitrogen or air for driving surgical instruments. 1.3 This standard specifies the requirements for inserts used to connect dedicated gas connection points that are part of the terminal. 1.4 This section does not specify the dimensions of inserts or terminal-specific gas connection points. Note: Certain regional or national standards specifying the dimensions of inserts and dedicated gas connection points are given in the references. 1.5 This section does not specify the dimensions of NIST connectors defined in YY/T 0799. 1.6 This section does not specify the dimensions of DISS joints as defined in CGA (Compressed Gas Association) V-5. 1.7 This section does not specify the requirements for terminals used in anesthetic gas purification systems (AGSS) covered by YY 0801.2.
