- This standard provides guidelines for evaluating the in vivo degradation and osteogenic properties of porous bioceramics. This standard specifies test methods for qualitative and quantitative evaluation of the degradation and osteogenic properties of materials after they are implanted into bone tissue. This standard is applicable to the evaluation of the degradation and osteogenic properties of porous bioceramics implanted into living bone tissue, without considering the impact of mechanical or functional loads. The evaluation of the degree of degradation is based on the degradation reaction of the material in the bone tissue, and the evaluation of the osteogenic performance is based on the degree of new formation in the bone tissue.
