This part of GB/T 17975 specifies the system layer coding specification. It is primarily designed to support the combination of video and audio encoding methods defined in Parts 2 and 3 of this standard. The system layer supports the following five basic functions: a) synchronization of multiple compressed streams during decoding; b) interleaving of multiple compressed streams into a single stream; c) initialization of buffers to start decoding; d) contiguous buffers management; e) time stamping.
