Scope
This standard specifies the necessary conditions for sampling bauxite, taking aggregate samples for sample preparation from flowing ore streams and at rest, including on restrained conveyor belts. Sampling on a restraint conveyor is the reference method of sample collection compared to other sampling procedures. Sampling from mobile streams is the preferred method. Static sampling should only be considered when it is not possible to sample from a mobile stream. The static sampling procedure specified in this standard is intended only to minimize some sampling errors. This standard applies to sampling of all mobile bauxite streams. The recommended procedure may not be suitable for some extreme segregation situations, such as very wet sticky materials, or very dry materials prone to dust generation. In this case it may be necessary to switch to constrained transport upsampling.
