- This standard specifies the technical requirements, test methods, sampling, marking, packaging, transportation and storage of engine coolants used in automobile and light-load engine cooling systems. This standard applies to engine coolants that use ethylene glycol or propylene glycol as antifreeze and are composed of a variety of additives and an appropriate amount of deionized water. They have anti-corrosion, anti-freeze, anti-boiling and anti-scaling effects. This standard does not raise safety issues related to its application. It is the responsibility of the user of this standard to establish appropriate safety and health measures and to clarify its restricted scope of application before use.
