Scope
This standard specifies the general structure and performance of marine electromagnetic compass used for steering and direction determination in accordance with the requirements of Chapter V of the International Convention for the Safety of Life at Sea (SOLAS Convention) and the International Code of Safety for High Speed Craft (HSC Code). Requirements, type test and individual inspection requirements. The electromagnetic compass specified in this standard is applicable to ships with an overall length not less than 24 m. Electromagnetic compass refers to electronic equipment that uses the earth's magnetic field to obtain ship heading information, which will be transmitted to the main compass for steering and direction determination, the repeater attached to the main compass and other required navigation equipment.
