This standard lays down general requirements for the compaction of masses for various purposes such as ditches, roads, lanes, sites and fills. The standard requires that a professional assessment of the suitability of the masses has been carried out in the design of the construction. There are three classes of compression: light, normal and special. For light and normal compaction, the standard specifies requirements for maximum layer thickness before compaction and requirements for the number of passes with a specific compaction equipment. There are no direct requirements for special compression in this standard. Compaction of bitumen stabilized or cement stabilized masses as well as masses with a high organic content is not covered by the standard. Deep compression is not included.
