Scope
This standard provides guidance for steady-state rms measurements of quasi-static magnetic and electric fields in the frequency range 15Hz-9kHz. Sources of quasi-static electromagnetic fields include equipment that operates at commercial frequencies and generates electromagnetic fields at the commercial frequency and its harmonics, and equipment that generates electromagnetic fields that are independent of the commercial frequency. The range of electromagnetic field strengths covered by this standard is 100nT-100mT for magnetic fields and 1V/m-50kV/m for electric fields. For measurements beyond this range, most of the provisions of this standard will still apply, although some provisions, such as certain uncertainties and calibration procedures, may require modification. This standard specifically describes the following items: ——Definition of terms — Definition of requirements for electromagnetic field measuring instrument specifications — Definition of calibration methods — Definition of requirements for uncertainty of measuring instruments — Explanation of general characteristics of electromagnetic fields — Explanation of operating principles of measuring instruments — Describe the measurement method to achieve clear daily limits for human exposure. Also specify the elements of uncertainty during calibration and measurement, and provide guidance on how these relate to the overall measurement uncertainty. . Regarding electric field measurements, this standard only covers the measurement of the undistorted electric field strength (i.e. the electric field before the measuring instrument and operator enter it) in space or at a point on a conductive surface. Notes 1. For reasons of standard structure, the standard measurement requirements are divided into 5 and 6. Examples of measurement procedures and measurement guidance are divided into Annex D and E. 2.Remarks The corresponding international standards for this standard are shown below. The symbols representing the degree of correspondence are IDT (matched), MOD (modified), and NEQ (not equivalent) based on ISO/IEC Guide 21.
