Scope

The CCITT defines or will define a number of services whose common characteristic is voice transmission together with other information that reaches the eventual user in visual form. This Recommendation refers to a set of such services that should be treated in a harmonized manner; It is convenient to refer to the members of this group as “audiovisual services” (abbreviated as AV services).
