Scope
This standard specifies the requirements for the use of thermal protectors or thermal detectors that are installed inside the stator windings of induction motors or placed at other appropriate locations in induction motors to prevent serious damage to the motor caused by thermal overload. This standard applies to motors manufactured in accordance with the requirements of IEC 60034-12 and whose voltage limits comply with the provisions of IEC 60034-12. Not suitable for the protection of bearings and other structural components. Note 1: Although the temperature limits given in this standard are higher than those specified in IEC 60034-1, they are not inconsistent. Note 2: There may be additional requirements for motors used for special purposes, such as those used in household appliances or explosive gas environments.
