Scope

This method is suitable for determining the sulfur content of light petroleum products (gasoline: kerosene, diesel oil, etc.) whose Reid vapor pressure is not higher than 600 mmHg. The petroleum products are burned in a lamp, the sulfur dioxide generated is absorbed with an aqueous solution of sodium carbonate, and is determined by volumetric analysis.
