1.1 This standard applies to AC traction motors (hereinafter referred to as traction motors) supplied by power converters for electrically driven railways. Note that it can also be applied to auxiliary motors for railway vehicles. The purpose of this standard is to confirm the performance of traction motors through tests, to evaluate their performance against specified loads, and to specify criteria for comparison with other traction motors. When tests other than those specified in this standard are carried out in accordance with IEC 61377, type tests or survey tests should preferably be carried out on the same test bench as the combination test to avoid duplication.
