This standard specifies all power type resistors (e.g. for brakes, heating, snubbers and filters) used in the main circuits and high voltage auxiliary circuits of railway vehicles. It also applies regardless of the vehicle circuit or type of vehicle being used. These resistors generally have an open structure and are used in highly contaminated environments (such as dust). Resistive elements may consist of grids, plates, strips, ribbons or lines.
