This Recommendation is concerned with the voice-frequency transmission considerations that should be taken into account in the design of digital exchanges and their incorporation into the network. The digital exchanges referred to include local exchanges and transit exchanges (national and intemational). The transmission considerations relate primarily to the properties which digital exchanges should possess to enable them to operate under different and changing network conditions with respect to the content of analogue, mixed analogue/digital and all-digital plant.
