This standard applies to rotodynamic (centrifugal) pump types, in all worldwide markets. It provides required and recommended practices for pump piping which, if followed, should reduce the risk of incorrect operation of the pump and the system. Excluded is any piping integral to the pump unit, such as auxiliary or lubricant piping. This technical specification is intended to complement the guidelines for suction piping covered in ANSI/HI 9.8 - 1998 and be consistent with Committee European of Normalization (CEN) and the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) guidelines.
