The purpose of this Standard is to specify the maximum electrical resistance of anti-electrostatic endless "V" belts, for industrial use, with sections Y, Z, A, B, C, D, E, SPZ, SPA, SPB and SPC (See ICONTEC Standard 1 702) and the corresponding test method. This Standard applies to new belts that are to be used in explosive atmospheres or in places where there is a risk of fire. The test stipulated in this Standard ensures that the belt is sufficiently conductive to dissipate the static electricity charges that may form on it when it is in service.
