Scope

This International Standard specifies requirements for electroplated coatings of nickel on ferrous and non-ferrous metals for engineering purposes. Coatings primarily for decorative purposes are excluded, as these are covered by ISO 1458. For applications where corrosion resistance is also required, ISO 1458 specifies coatings of minimum thickness up to 30 μm; for thicker coatings, the requirements of this International Standard apply.
