This standard sets out the principles of lightning protection of structures, both internal and external, and covers the installation of a lightning protection system (LPS) for free-standing structures of height up to 60 m. Requirements for air-termination systems, down conductors, earthing and materials are given. 2 This standard is not applicable to a) railway systems, b) electricity generating, transmission and distribution systems external to a structure, c) telecommunication systems external to a structure, or d) vehicles, ships, aircraft and offshore installations. 3 This standard makes provision for the issuing of a Certificate of Compliance (CoC) for lightning protection systems.
