This standard specifies a framework for coordinating the integration of existing standards and the development of future standards so that Open EDI participants can work with each other through Open EDI. It also provides a reference for these standards. Therefore, the role of this standard is to guide the standardization work required to implement open EDI by providing a context for use by standard developers, ensuring the coherence and completeness of relevant standardized modeling and description technologies, services, service interfaces, and protocols . This standard describes important aspects related to the interoperability of information technology systems used by Open EDI participants through two perspectives of business transactions. The two perspectives are: a) the business aspects of business information, business engagements, agreements and rules between open EDI participants; b) the information technology aspects required to support the execution of business transactions in the open EDI system. This standard is neither an implementation specification nor a basis for checking conformance of implementations.
