This standard covers general provisions for the homologation of respiratory equipment, for which a compulsory or SABS EN specification has been approved, for the protection of the body against harmful substances that might enter through the respiratory system and for the protection of the body against oxygen-deficient atmospheres. This standard does not cover equipment designed for the protection of the body against nuisance dust or against dust levels below the Occupational Exposure Levels (OEL).
