This specification covers the material, dimensional, and mechanical strength requirements for 10 types of fasteners and 5 types of washers that are used in the building industry for the fixing of roof and wall coverings in the form of sheeting.
NOTE
a) Components used in conjunction with each other, e.g. nuts, holts, and metal washers, should, in order to reduce the risk of galvanic corrosion, invariably be of the same material and, when dissimilar metals are in contact with each other, protection against galvanic action should be provided.
b) Except under the standardization mark scheme, assessment of compliance with the requirements of 3-4?2(a) or (b), as relevant,
is a matter of agreement between the manufacturer and the purchaser.
c) The standards referred to in the specification are listed in Appendix A.
d) Requirements that must be specified by the purchaser and a requirement that must be agreed upon between the manufacturer and the purchaser are given in Appendix B.
