This specification covers the following four types of reinforcing material constructed from glass fibre and polyester fibre and suitable for imbedding in a bitumen or coal tar enamel protective coating on pipes: Amdt2
Type 1: A random glass fibre mat of relatively low tensile strength intended primarily for use as an inner wrap.
Type 2: A woven glass fibre scrim, coated with bitumen or coal tar enamel, of high tensile strength in both longitudinal and transverse directions, with relatively low binder-holding capacity, and intended primarily for use in the outer layers of the bitumen or coal tar enamel coating.
Type 3: A woven or bonded glass fibre scrim combined with random glass fibre mat to achieve a tensile strength in both directions similar to that of type 2 but with porosity and binder-holding capacity similar to type 1, and intended for use in the inner or the outer layers of the bitumen or coal tar enamel coating.
Type 4: A polyester fibre stitchbonded substrate of relatively high tensile strength in both longitudinal and transverse directions, with high porosity and binder-holding capacity, and intended for use in the inner or the outer layers of bitumen or coal tar enamel coating. Amdt 2
NOTE a) The titles of standards referred to by number in the specification are given in annex A.
