This specification covers 3-strand hawser (plain)-laid and 8-strand plaited (cross-laid) ropes made from polyamide, polyester, and polyethylene continuous filament fibres, and polypropylene mono-filaments or film tapes.
NOTE
a) The standards referred to in the specification are listed in Appendix A.
b) Requirements that must be specified by the purchaser are listed in Appendix B.
c) Notes on the inspection and care of the ropes are given in Appendix C.
d) Calculations of the safe working load of a rope must be based on not more than one-sixth of its breaking strength.
