This part of SABS 0114 gives the fundamental principles and specifies the luminous requirements and minimum continuous operating periods for interior emergency lighting systems.
2 Although this part of SABS 0114 is not applicable to private domestic premises, its provisions can be applied to common access routes within multi-storey dwellings.
3 This part of SABS 0114 is not applicable to techniques that, when used in escape routes in addition to conventional emergency lighting luminaires, can enhance the effectiveness of the escape routes.
NOTE - This part of SABS 0114 should be read in conjunction with the requirements of the Building Regulations (SABS 0400) as well as the Environmental Regulations in the OHS Act, 1993 (Act 85 of 1993).
