Scope: This standard specifies the symbols and drawing rules for system flow charts and pipeline instrumentation diagrams of refrigeration systems and heat pumps. These graphics not only illustrate the structure and function of the refrigeration system, but also constitute a part of all technical documents necessary for the design, manufacture, installation, commissioning, operation, maintenance and shutdown of the refrigeration system. This standard applies to vapor compression refrigeration, absorption refrigeration, steam injection refrigeration, vortex tube refrigeration, compressed air refrigeration, adsorption refrigeration and other refrigeration systems that achieve refrigeration through changes in the state of the fluid working medium. This standard does not apply to refrigeration systems in which heat transfer within the system is realized by electrical circuits, such as the Peltier effect.
