Scope

This standard applies to tracked and wheeled hydraulic excavators (including mini excavators) (hereinafter referred to as hydraulic excavators), and also applies to additional requirements for derived machinery. Reference: Annex 5 shows typical models to which this standard applies. This standard is used in conjunction with JIS A 8340-1, which specifies common safety requirements for earthmoving machinery. This standard specifies all the serious hazards specific to hydraulic excavators (Annex 1 and JIS A 8340-1) and specifies appropriate technical measures to eliminate or reduce the risks arising therefrom.
