This International Standard identifies the activities and tasks necessary to identify, define, select, apply and improve software measurements within a project-wide or sub-project measurement scheme. This standard also provides definitions of measurement terms commonly used in the software industry. This International Standard does not list software-related measurements, nor does it provide a recommended set of measurements for application to software projects. This International Standard clarifies the process for defining a set of measurements appropriate to a specific information need.
