This European Standard is applicable to phosphonic acids and salts used as antiscalants for membranes inthe treatment of water intended for human consumption. It describes the characteristics and specifies therequirements and the corresponding analytical methods for phosphonic acids and salts. It gives informationon their use as antiscalants for membranes in water treatment. It also determines the rules relating to safehandling and use (see Annex B).
