- Scope
- This standard specifies the terminology of self-propelled crawler and tire mechanical excavators and their working devices/attachments. Mechanical excavators are mainly used for traction, excavation, grabbing and temporary lifting operations. The main engine of a mechanical excavator is often used as a carrier for working devices/attachments in special applications such as drilling and piling. The dimensions and specifications of these working devices/attachments are not within the scope of this standard.
