This Standard specifies the a.c. supplied electronic ballasts for fluorescent lamps
intended for use indoor or in luminaire, to light fluorescent lamps specified in JIS C
7601 [excluding compact type fluorescent lamps (integral with starter) in 4.2.1 c)] and
the low pressure mercury germicidal discharge lamps specified in JIS C 7605 (here-
after referred to as "lamps"), which have a rated input voltage not exceeding 300 V at
50 Hz, 60 Hz, or 50/60 Hz in common and a rated secondary voltage not exceeding
1 000 V and are used in general place (hereafter referred to as "ballasts"). However,
the ballasts without enclosure and integrated with a luminaire are excluded.
The ballasts integrated with a luminaire are as shown in 3.1.3 (integral lamp con-
trol gear) of JIS C 8147-1.
