In recycling PP and LDPE, it is important to the end product properties as well as to the processing conditions to know what the purity of the mixture is. In many cases, it is vital to know that the recycled material is reasonably free of a contaminant.
1.1 This test method uses an infrared approach for determining the presence of polypropylene (PP) physically mixed in with low density polyethylene – usually for recycling purposes.
Note 18212;Quantitative determinations require several standard mixtures in the concentration range of interest and well defined baseline anchoring points.
1.2 This standard does not purport to address all of the safety concerns, if any, associated with its use. It is the responsibility of the user of this standard to establish appropriate safety and health practices and determine the applicability of regulatory limitations prior to use.
