Scope

This standard is based on the overall Poisson distribution, and the probability mass function of the distribution is: where λ>0 is the distribution parameter. This standard specifies the point estimation, interval estimation and testing methods of the parameter λ based on independent random samples x₁, x₂,...,x_n from the population. This criterion can be used when there is good reason to believe that the population follows a Poisson distribution.
