Scope: This part of GB/T 3292 specifies the method for measuring the unevenness of linear density along the length direction of yarn sliver (including spun yarn, roving and sliver) with capacitive evenness meter. This section applies to staple fiber sliver and continuous man-made filament yarn. The test range for short fiber yarn is from 4tex to 8OKtex, and the test range for filament yarn is from 10 dtex to 1670 dtex. This section does not apply to fancy yarns and yarns containing conductive materials (such as metal wires), which can be measured by photoelectric methods (see Part 2 of GB/T 3292). This part describes the generation process of the coefficient of variation-length curve, and describes the method of determining the periodic variation of linear density. This section also includes counts of yarn defects (i.e. thins, thick places and neps).
